PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for conveying sheet materials capable of preventing the defective sheet material conveyance from occurring by preventing a guide plate from being deflected, and to provide an image reading apparatus, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The device includes a conveying device body 70a, a cover 70b capable of opening and closing the conveying device body 70a, and pickup rollers (sheet material conveying means) 6, 7 for conveying a sheet material to the downstream side in the conveying direction. The pickup roller sheets 6, 7 comprise a driven roller (one roller) 7 fitted to the cover, a drive roller (the other roller) 6 fitted to the conveying device body 70a, a pressuring means 60 for pressuring the driven roller 7 toward the drive roller 6, and a support bracket (support means) 64 for fixing the pressuring means 60. The cover 70b comprises a guide plate 52 for guiding the sheet material and an external facing plate 51. The support bracket 64 is mounted on the guide plate 52.
