<p>A thermal printer, comprising a sheet feed means for conveying a thermal sheet, and a thermal head having a plurality of heating elements arranged linearly on a line intersecting the sheet feed direction perpendicularly, is further provided with a means for selecting heating elements to be energized, wherein the selection means switches between a plurality of dispersion patterns for selecting heating elements to be energized from among the plurality of heating elements, and selects heating elements to be energized by ANDing a pattern with a line of print data sequentially. Heating elements energized and heated on one line are dispersed using a dispersion pattern and biased temperature distribution due to cooling after heating is corrected thus suppressing occurrence of sticking due to biased temperature distribution. Consequently, biased temperature distribution is corredted in the entire head, and sticking and degradation in print quality are suppressed.</p> |
