A ceiling type air conditioner is provided to lift a suction grill by rotation of pulleys having different diameters according to a position of the suction grill, thereby lifting the suction grill in a short time stably. A ceiling type air conditioner includes a body part mounted to a ceiling and receiving a heat exchanger and a blower fan. A suction grill is separately attached at a lower part of the main body. A lifting unit is connected to the suction grill by a wire(145a,145b) to lift the suction grill. The lifting unit has a pulley unit(160) for winding or rewinding the wire to lift or lower the suction grill and controlling a lifting speed of the suction grill according to a position of the suction grill, and a driving motor(180) connected to the pulley unit to rotate the pulley unit.
