PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling roll with which both rolling of heavy reduction by which dissolution of an increased thickness part at both ends of the web part of a shape is attained and light reduction by which the improvement of dimensional accuracy when the increased thickness part is not found is attained are possible and rolling by which web thickness is made uniform is achieved with the same set of the rolls and a rolling method using the same roll. SOLUTION: In the horizontal roll for reducing the web part in the thickness direction in the universal rolling process of the shape, this horizontal roll for rolling the shape has a ring-like projecting part 6 the top of which is flat in the axial direction of the roll at both ends of the rolling surface of the roll. When rolling the shape using this roll, when the shape of a material to be rolled has local increased thickness part 7 in both end parts of the web, the rolling surface is brought into contact with the web and the heavy reduction of both end parts is performed so that the web is bitten into by the whole projecting part 6 and, when the shape of the material to be rolled has not the increased thickness part 7, the light reduction of both end parts is performed so that only the flat part on the top of the projecting part 6 is brought into contact with the web.
