PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a storage/reproduction mechanism, capable of obtaining a constant error rate without being influenced by a change in atmospheric pressure. SOLUTION: This controller includes a storage medium 11 for storing data in a controller 10, a head 12 for storing/reproducing data to the storage medium 11, an error rate detection means 13 for detecting an error rate of data read by the head 12, and a floating amount control means 14 for controlling the floating amount of the head 12 according to the error rate, to correct the change in floating amount caused by atmospheric pressure.
