PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of abrasion powder and to press a RAM cartridge and a BD cartridge jointly with a proper pressing force, without impairing the visual appearance of the main surface of the cartridge, when pressing the cartridge. SOLUTION: A disk unit has a recording/reproducing position for recording and/or reproducing a disk housed in cartridges C1 and C2, and a transfer means for transferring back and forth a tray 10 which mounts the cartridges between a first position, corresponding to the recording/reproducing position and a second position outside the unit, and at least in such a situation the tray stays at the first position; and its cartridge pressing mechanism presses the cartridges to the tray presses against the edges R1 and R2 of the cartridges, formed by the main surfaces F1 and F2 of the pair of cartridges, in parallel with an information recording layer of the disk and side surfaces S1 and S2 which connect outer edges of the main surfaces of both cartridges.
