PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical position detection device achieving high reliability with inexpensive device constitution. SOLUTION: When light emitted from a light emission element 12 is incident on one end of an optical fiber 20 via a half mirror 16, the light is propagated to a sensor part 30 connected to the other end of the optical fiber 20. In the sensor part 30, a plane mirror 40 is attached to a case 36 housing a ferrule 32 and a rod lens 34 via a leaf spring 44. In an initial state in which a float 70 is not in the vicinity of the sensor part 30, all the light reflected by the plane mirror 40 is returned to the rod lens 34. When the float 70 approaches the sensor part 30, the leaf spring 44 is curved by receiving magnetic attraction force generated between a magnetic field of a soft magnetic material 72 and a magnetic field of a magnet 46 so that the plane mirror 40 is tilted. A signal processing circuit 60 detects the position of the float 70 on the basis of variation in intensity of the reflected light returned to the rod lens 34. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
