PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique capable of accurately detecting displacement of a compression top position in a crank angle sensor during fuel cut. SOLUTION: The control device for controlling the internal combustion engine is provided with a pressure detection means disposed in a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, a sampling circuit for sampling output of the pressure detection means, a smoothing means for smoothing a sample value generated by the sampling circuit, aθPmax detection means for detecting a crank angleθPmax in a point of time when an in-cylinder pressure detected based on the smoothed sample value is the maximum, and a difference detecting means for detecting the difference betweenθPmax detected by theθPmax detection means in fuel cut operation and the crank angle at a top dead center of a motoring pressure.
