A contact surface for electrical contacts may include an Ag layer deposited on a copper-based substrate using galvanic methods. The Ag layer includes finely dispersed graphite particles in a quantity of, e.g., 1 to 3 weight % of the Ag layer, the graphite particles having a length in the range of, e.g., 0.5 to 20 mum.
