PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for enabling a user to much more easily acquire information by using an IC tag attached to an object.

SOLUTION: This information providing system SYM is provided with a client device 1; a plurality of IC tags 3 embedded in a plurality of books 2 respectively; an IC tag reader 4; and an information providing server 5. The IC tag reader 4 reads each identifier stored in the plurality of communicable IC tags 3, and transmits the read identifier to the client device 1. The client device 1 transmits the plurality of identifiers transmitted from the IC tag reader 4 to the information providing server 5. The information providing server 5 reads content information corresponding to the plurality of identifiers received from the client device 1 respectively from the database, and analyzes the content information, and generates provision information based on the analysis result, and transmits the provision information to the client device 1.
