<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing nickel oxyhydroxide suitable as a positive electrode material for a battery from nickel hydroxide containing an additional metal by which an environmental load caused by waste water can be reduced as well as oxidizer cost. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing nickel oxyhydroxide comprises: a stage (A) where additional metal-containing nick hydroxide slurry is mixed with an alkali metal hypochlorite aqueous solution, so as to produce nickel oxyhydroxide slurry; a stage (B) where the nickel oxyhydroxide and the alkali metal chloride aqueous solution containing the eluted additional metal ions are subjected to solid-liquid separation; a stage (C) where the eluted additional metal ions in the alkali metal chloride aqueous solution are separated away, so as to obtain a refined alkali metal chloride aqueous solution; a stage (D) where the refined alkali metal chloride aqueous solution is electrolyzed, so as to produce an alkali metal hypochlorite aqueous solution; and a stage (E) where the produced alkali metal hypochlorite aqueous solution is returned to the stage (A), so as to be recycled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
