PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift drive mechanism for an internal combustion engine which has a simple construction to reduce components without the need for a special shift drive mechanism for manual operation, and also has a reduced cost without the need for maintenance. SOLUTION: The shift drive mechanism 100 for the internal combustion engine comprises: a transmission for changing the speed of rotation of a crank shaft 11 and transmitting it to an output shaft; and a shift actuator 130 for shifting operation of the transmission with the rotation of a shift rotating shaft 111. One end of the shift rotating shaft 111 passes through an engine case cover 30 and protrudes to the outside.
