PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article housing column capable of preventing the jamming of an article. SOLUTION: On the article housing column 2 of a main body of this automatic vending machine having an article guide stopper 10 which is disposed behind an article guide path 4 for guiding an article A thrown in from an upper front face to the horizontal direction, and receives the article rolling down on the article guide path 4 by means of upper and lower rotatable guide plates so as to guide the article to fall down to the downward article column 2, a notch is formed at the corner of the upper piece of the upper guide plate 11, so that the upper portion or the end of the article A does not collide with the article guide stopper 10.
