PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the issue of "seismic isolation of an existing non-earthquake-resistant house", which is the most urgent issue in the Central Disaster Prevention Council of the Cabinet Office of Japan as a major earthquake country, by a seismic isolation method for an existing wooden house, remodel a non-earthquake-resistant house, which is to be built hereafter, into a house with a seismic isolation device, and further contribute to housing industries by increasing the demand for remodeling existing houses cooperatively with the demand for base-isolation work of existing houses. SOLUTION: A base isolation device 11 comprises an upper and a lower disc-like support members 2, 5 each provided with a sliding L-shaped steel 3 and a steel ball 1c. An upper and a lower sliding L-shaped sections 12, 13 of the device 11 are inserted in a gap between a foundation and a sill, and the support members 2, 5 are fixed on the foundation and the sill. An additional foundation 7c is placed under the lower discal support member. The seismic isolation method for an existing wooden house is executed as described above. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
