PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a modified fiber having excellent adhesiveness to rubbers and resins and excellent continuous productivity and processable in a short time. SOLUTION: The method for the production of a modified fiber comprises the plasma treatment of a fiber in a gas having a humidity of 50-100%. Preferably, steam treatment is performed in the plasma treatment, and the plasma treatment is carried out in a chamber. Preferably, the surface temperature of the fiber is between 50°C and the melting point in the plasma treatment, the plasma treatment is carried out in a chamber, the inside of the chamber is heated and the fiber is preparatorily heated before the plasma treatment. Preferably, one or more substances selected from adhesives, matrix resins and matrix rubbers are applied to the fiber after the plasma treatment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
