PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing device capable of easily reproducing information, such as a picture signal, recorded over a plurality of recording media in the order of recording. SOLUTION: A disk recording medium being exchanged within a predetermined prescribed time period from stopping of a recording operation to the disk recording medium 1 is detected. When the recording of information is started after the exchange of the disk recording medium 1, the disk ID of the disk recording medium before the exchange is recorded on the disk recording medium, after the exchange so that reproduction, in the order of recording, can be achieved during reproduction by referring to the disk ID.
