PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper feed device for a sewing machine, in which a presser foot is easily and speedily replaced with simple structure. SOLUTION: Most of the left side surface of a holder 10 is covered with a left side plate 11A, a lever member 13 is connected to the front side of the left side plate 11A, and a left engaging pin 13b is provided at the front end part of the lever member 13. At the front end part of a right side plate 12A covering the right side surface of the holder 10, a right engaging pin 12b is provided. The presser foot 3 is supported swingably by engaging the engaging pins 12b and 13b to engaging holes 3g and 3h formed in the presser foot 3. When the operation part 13d of the lever member 13 is operated so as to be pressurized to the side of the left side plate 11A, the lever member 13 is movable clockwise in a plane view with a supporting point part 13c as a supporting point, so that the left engaging pin 13b is switched to a disengaging position.
