PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating whitening effect by measuring an increase in whiteness of the skin color due to a skin color change caused by promoted blood circulation. SOLUTION: The method for estimating whitening effect comprises a step of measuring skin spectra by means of a colorimeter before and after being subjected to a whitening effect promoting treatment, a step of calculating an increase rate of average total-hemoglobin content of the skin region before and after the treatment on the basis of the measured skin spectra, and a step of determining whitening effect on the basis of the increase rate of average total-hemoglobin content. The whitening effect promoting treatment is performed on the forehead, under the eyes and the cheek. Whitening effect is determined to be effective when the increase rate of average total-hemoglobin content is≥10% and≤20%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
