<p>The object of this invention is primarily that of a device and corresponding method of assembling a motor vehicle body, in particular, for assembling a roof liner (2) with a body side panel (6), forming a gouge (4) at the site of connection thereof. The method comprises the steps of: a) applying force to the liner in the direction of the bottom (8) of the gouge (4), this force being applied on the outside of the gouge, a') applying force to the bottom (8) of the gouge (4) so as to apply the lateral edge (2.1) of the liner (2) to a lateral edge of the body side panel (2, simultaneously with steps a) and b) for welding the roof liner (2) and the body side panel (6) near the area where force is applied, e.g., simultaneous to the application of force.</p> |
