CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ROOF CROSS-MEMBER AND THE UPPER CENTER PILLAR REINFORCEMENT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

The connection between the upper center pillar reinforcement (2) and the roof cross-member (1) makes it possible to provide the body with a high degree of mechanical resistance, in particular with respect to lateral impacts to the vehicle. It makes use primarily of the window post (3) liner, which is situated behind the upper center pillar reinforcement (2). As a matter of fact, said liner comprises a tab (30) which is intended to overlap said reinforcement in a connecting area (2C) and where it is covered by the end of the roof cross-member (1). A first series of weld points (6) between the latter and the window post liner (3) provides the connection between these two parts, while a second series of weld points (8) provides the connection between the upper center pillar reinforcement (2) and the window post liner (3), which is made of a different material from that forming the two other parts, for the purpose of being able to produce high-efficiency weld points.
