STRAIN ALCALIGENES SP. S-8 FOR THE DEGRADATION OF SULFIDE IN BIOTRICKLING FILTER

An Alcaligenes sp. S-8 strain isolated from activated sludge of a sewage disposal plant for biologically reducing a sulfur compound in a biotrickling filter system is provided to decompose the sulfur containing compound effectively, thereby being applicable to the biotrickling filter system. An Alcaligenes sp. S-8 strain for decomposing a sulfur containing compound including HS or thio sulfate is deposited as a deposition no. KACC91254., has optimum activity at temperature of 28-30deg.C and pH of 6.5-8.5. A biotrickling filter system uses the strain.
