<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationally and efficiently produce a substrate in accordance with a request such as use restriction of a component. <P>SOLUTION: A component mounting method takes out the component from a component supply 4 and mounts it on the substrate P, by driving/controlling a mounting head 20 in accordance with a mounting program. Information on a plurality of components which can be exchanged with respect to one type of a component to be mounted is previously incorporated into the mounting program.
