<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of smoothly driving and continuing an image forming process by highly reliably conveying a recording medium to downstream, such as recording paper, with a toner image transferred thereon. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus forms an image in such a manner that a toner image formed on the surface of a photoreceptor drum and primarily transferred to an intermediate transfer belt is secondarily transferred to recording paper conveyed while held between the belt and the transfer roller and, the transferred toner image is heated and pressed by a pair of fixing rollers, thereby fixing the toner image to the recording paper. If temperature and humidity in the main body of the apparatus causes the resistance of the transfer roller to depart from a desired value, the main body of the transfer roller is brought into contact with the intermediate transfer belt during a warmup period. While the main body of the transfer roller is rotated following the belt, the temperature of the main body is increased by heat radiated by the heat roller of the pair of fixing rollers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
