<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved system for the operability of a remote controller particularly for a television receiver in a video display apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The video display apparatus is provided with a video display means having a screen on which a video is displayed, a remote controller including keys for externally operating the video display means, a key name display means for displaying the names of the keys on the screen, and a key selection display means for displaying the selected states of the keys on the screen.
