<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in data holding of a nonvolatile memory of a memory card without reading stored information out of the nonvolatile memory by a host device. <P>SOLUTION: The memory card has the nonvolatile memory (2) and a memory controller (4) which controls the operation of the nonvolatile memory. The memory controller can interface with the outside according to a predetermined protocol and the memory controller performs error detection/correction for the stored information at predetermined intervals of time as well as reading the stored information to the outside at an external access request. Consequently, the reliability in the data holding of the nonvolatile memory can be improved by reading the stored information out of the nonvolatile memory of the memory card by the host device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
