PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable fixing by a heater that changes heating areas according to the size of a heated object without changing heating places in the shortish side direction while offering uniform temperature distribution in the longish side direction of the heater. SOLUTION: A wide heat-generating resistance 19 in the shortish side direction is formed on an elongated platelike insulating board 11, and is connected to wiring patterns 15 and 16 formed on both ends of the heat-generating resistance 19. An overcoat layer 25 is formed on the wiring patterns 15 and 16 and the heat-generating resistance 19. The middle parts of the wiring patterns 15 and 16 in the lengthwide direction of the insulating board 11 are connected to electrodes 12 and 13, respectively. An electrode 14 is connected to both ends of the wiring pattern 16 via a conductive pattern on the back face of the insulating board 11, using a through-hole. Power is supplied selectively to the electrodes 12 and 13 or to the electrodes 12 and 14. This enables flexible heating in correspondence to heated objects of various sizes without changing heating places in the shortish side direction while offering uniform temperature distribution in the lengthwise direction of the insulating board 11.
