摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the conversion of gypsum recovered from both of a rotary kiln and dust collectors to gypsum hemihydrate when waste gypsum is thermally regenerated by using the rotary kiln. SOLUTION: An apparatus for thermally regenerating the waste gypsum is equipped with the rotary kiln 1 to heat the waste gypsum, dust collectors 7, 8 to catch gypsum particulates flied from the kiln 1 and a storage tank to store recovered gypsum from the kiln 1 and the dust collectors 7, 8. Gypsum dihydrate in the waste gypsum is heated at a temperature so as to convert gypsum dihydrate to gypsum hemihydrate in the kiln 1. The gypsum particulates contained in an exhausted gas from the kiln 1 are recovered by the dust collectors. Recovered gypsum particulates whose temperature is comparatively high and heated gypsum discharged from the rotary kiln 1 and whose temperature is comparatively low are mixed and stored in the storage tank 13. The temperature of gypsum dihydrate remained in the heated gypsum is raised and then gypsum dihydrate is converted to gypsum hemihydrate. Steam generated in the conversion and gypsum anhydride contained in the gypsum particulates are hydrated and converted to gypsum hemihydrate and then the recovery rate of gypsum hemihydrate is enhanced.
