An answer grading apparatus using a smart card and a method using the same are provided to read accurately answer information stored in the smart card for writing an answer without concerns such as misreading and cheating by an error of a marker or a proctor and perform marking. An answer grading apparatus includes a smart card reader(201), a data communication unit(202), an authentication unit(203), a scoring unit(204), a display unit(206), a printing unit(207), a smart card loader(208), and a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(205). The authentication unit determines the validity of card information about the smart card. The scoring unit determines the consentaneity of the answer information of the smart card. The CPU controls components, determines the insertion of the smart card into the smart card reader, reads the card information and the answer information stored in the smart card, and transmits separately the card information and the answer information to the authentication unit and the scoring unit. |
