VERSATILE SMALL WATERPLANE AREA HULL (VSWAH)

VSWAH hulls have a strength deck (2) which is connected to one or more struts and hydrofoils that could be folded to minimize draft and freeboard. The hull will benefit from the ride qualities of a SWATH for example, when sailing, and will be able to reduce draft and freeboard when accessing shallow ports with minimal infrastructure. As an example, rotating shafts (5), racks (7) and rolling shafts (6) are used on the hull co-operable with the strength deck (2) to control folding/unfolding of the hull. The folded parts or additional volumes could be used to restore the loss of buoyancy dictated by the nature of the system. The hull could use generally hydraulic power to fold its struts and hydrofoils.
