REPRODUCTION DEVICE, PROGRAM, AND REPRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately determine whether caption can be displayed in the language desired by a user even when there are several hundreds of kinds of languages to be displayed. SOLUTION: A reproduction device selects one of a plurality of text caption streams and reproduces the selected text caption stream together with the moving picture. PSR 48-61 contain a plurality of Decode Capability flags, and each of the flags indicates decode capability of the text caption for each language. A procedure execution unit refers to each of the flags in the PSR 48-61 and determines whether each of the plurality of text caption streams with a Stream-entry in an SNT-table of play list information can be displayed. A stream selection unit 17 selects the text caption stream by writing in a PSR 2 a stream number of the text caption stream determined to be displayed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
