PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute high speed two-way communication while keeping the interchangeability in a communication interface such as the HDMI(R). SOLUTION: An HDMI(R) source 53 is provided with a SW 101 for selecting first and second data or third data other than the first and second data and supplying the selected data to a conversion section 210, and a decoding section 102 for receiving differential signals transmitted from an HDMI(R) sink 61 through a TMDS channel and decoding the signals into fourth data being original data. The HDMI(R) sink 61 is provided with a SW 131 for selecting data outputted from a decoding section 22 as the first and second data or the third data and outputting the selected data, and a conversion section 132 for converting the fourth data to be transmitted to the HDMI(R) source 53 into differential signals and transmits the differential signals through the TMDS channel.
