PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical external cavity surface-emitting laser which enhances a laser output through improvement of frequency conversion efficiency in SHG crystal. SOLUTION: The vertical external cavity surface-emitting laser includes a light emitting element 120 provided with a mirror layer 122 for limiting resonant range, an active layer 123 for generating light, a heat spreader 127 for cooling the active layer, and micro-lens 129 having a convex curved external surface for focusing and combined with the heat spreader; an SHG crystal 130 for converting a frequency of the light focused through the micro-lens; and an external resonance mirror which has a light having the frequency converted through the SHG crystal passed therethrough to output the light as a laser, and has a basic light having a frequency not converted reflected on the mirror layer and resonated.
