PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content file processing apparatus selectively transferring an appropriate content file when backing up contents files stored in an auxiliary storage devices into the content file processing apparatus. SOLUTION: The content file processing apparatus comprises: a content management file acquisition means which acquires a first content management file from a first storage device wherein content files holding data relating to contents and the first content management file holding information for managing the content files are stored; a selection means which analyzes the content management file acquired by the content management file acquisition means and selects types of content files to be processed as prescribed; a content file acquisition means which acquires the content files selected by the selection means from the first storage device; and a content file storing means which stores the content files acquired by the content file acquisition means into a second storage device.
