PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern recognition device by which the performance of pattern recognition is improved in the case of a large number of classes. SOLUTION: The pattern recognition device comprises a pattern input part 101, a feature extraction part 102, a dictionary feature storage part 103, a similarity calculation part 104, a correction conversion generation part 105, a similarity correction part 106, and a determination part 107, and input features are generated from input patterns, and dictionary features are generated from dictionary patterns, and similarities calculated from the input patterns and the dictionary patterns are corrected by using an inverse matrix having similarities between dictionary patterns as components, so that distances between classes can be increased, and thus the recognition performance is improved.
