PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring device of an elderly person or the like, and a remote monitoring system of an elderly person or the like that does not require an external collaborator, automatically detects emergency of the elderly person or the like, and can recognize the immediacy by conversational recognition. SOLUTION: The remote monitoring system of the elderly person or the like monitors biological data for 24 hours, and, when the data exceeds a defined value, starts a PHS cordless handset 4, and transmits the biological data to a receiving center 5. A system performing safety recognition in conversation can dispense with an external collaborator 7, automatically detects the emergency of the elderly person 1, and can recognize the immediacy by conversation recognition. The cardiac rate can be measured accurately even during exercise or sleeping by combining with a pulsometer or the like, the emergency that can occur during exercise or sleeping can be detected, and an elderly person can use the system comfortably, any time, and familiarly by introduction of an automatic response service.
