A power tool, having attached thereto a battery device (10) including one or plurality of cell assemblies (100), includes a motor (250) which is supplied with a DC current from the battery device (10), a switching element (251) which controls a drive and a stop of the motor (250), means which detects a number of cell assemblies (100), and control means (261) which controls the switching element in such a way as to stop the drive of the motor (250) when the number of cell assemblies (100) is smaller than a prescribed value.
