A mobile communication terminal having a video telephony function and a video processing method using the same are provided to prevent the transmission of an unnecessary image by showing an image, set by a user, to the other party during a function implementation time by the function switching of a camera during the video telephony. A video processing method using a mobile communication terminal comprises the following steps of: recognizing the activation of a photography function while a terminal user makes video telephony with at least one person by using the mobile communication terminal; transmitting an image according to a setting condition while the mobile communication terminal performs the photography function; and switching into a video telephony mode while transmitting a photographed picture. The mobile communication terminal includes a radio frequency unit(150), a memory(140), a controller(130), a display unit(160), a keypad(110) and a camera(120). The radio frequency unit(150) receives and transmits a radio signal through a mobile communication network. The controller recognizes the activation of a photographing function from the camera during image communication and controls the image data transmitted from the RF unit according to the setting information stored at the memory.
