<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device having a high-reliability heat radiation structure, and allowing point light sources to be easily decomposed and replaced, in a surface light source using point light sources. <P>SOLUTION: This surface light source device 50 includes: a plurality of point light sources 2; a light-guide plate 4 for emitting, from its emitting surface, the light from the point light sources 2 entering from one side surface thereof; a lower case 10 having a side surface part formed approximately in parallel to the incident surface of the light-guide plate 4; and a light source substrate 3 on which the plurality of point light sources 2 are arranged at predetermined intervals, and which is disposed on the incident surface side of the light-guide plate 4.
