<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion apparatus wherein overcurrent can be prevented from being continuously passed through a connection wiring between it and a rotary electric machine. <P>SOLUTION: The power conversion apparatus 1 includes multiple switching elements 2 and is connected to a rotary electric machine 3. The power conversion apparatus 1 includes: an overcurrent detecting means 11 for detecting the passage of overcurrent through a connection wiring 4 between it and the rotary electric machine 3; and a circuit disconnecting means 12 for disconnecting the connection wiring 4 based on a detection signal from the overcurrent detecting means 11.
