PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for solving such a problem that when a plurality of wire-drawing dies groups arranged between a pair of driving capstan rollers and guiding capstan rollers are passed and an extra-fine metal wire is drawn at high speed, especially when the fine metal wire of 20μmϕor smaller is drawn at a speed of 100 m/min or faster, the fine metal wire is stuck to rollers at the outlet of the guiding capstan rollers and broken. SOLUTION: In the method and the apparatus for drawing the extra-fine metal wire, the circumferential velocity of the guiding capstan rollers is made to be slower than the linear velocity of the extra-fine metal wire finally passing through the guiding capstan.
