PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a coated base material capable of efficiently manufacturing a coated building material not causing the occurrence of blocking even if dried coated building materials are stacked after coating and having no problem from an aspect of appearance. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the coated base material by applying a colored coating film containing particles on the surface of a base material and subsequently applying a clear coating film the colored coating film, the thicknesses of the colored coating film and the clear coating film and the number average particle size of the particles have the following formula [1]: (1/2)X≤number average particle size (μm) of particles≤(3/2)(X+Y) wherein X is the thickness (μm) of the colored coating film and Y is the thickness (μm) of the clear coating film.
