<p>A passenger transport system for a deep mine gallery has a ceiling-mounted single rail within a bell casing from which a self-powered passenger cabin is suspended by cables. At pickup and drop-off points a trigger releases the cabin cable under the control of a counter-weight, bringing the cabin floor down to gallery floor height. The counterweight is lighter than the drive system. The counterweight is located within a bell housing with a catch activated by arrival of the cabin suspension.</p> |
