In an operating device for a domestic appliance with a screen part (3) and front button(s) (4) for actuating switch element(s) (5) below the screen, where the button(s) are in opening(s) in the screen part and have a projecting catch (9) locking with the rear opening edge (10b), at least one side of the opening edge in the screen part is a step-like projection (11) facing the opening, forming a curved support (12) or buffer for the button. An operating device for a domestic appliance has a screen part (3) and front button(s) (4) for actuating switch element(s) (5), with a punch (7), below the screen. The button(s) are located in opening(s) in the screen part and have (on at least one side) a projecting catch (9) locking with the edge (10b) of the opening at the rear of the screen. The novel feature is that at least one side of the opening edge in the screen part is shaped as a step-like projection (11) facing the opening, forming a curved support (12) or buffer for the button.
