A device for supplying lubricant from a pressurized source (not shown) via ducts 24 and 25 to the crank-shaft 10 and connecting-rod bearing 6 of an internal-combustion engine or the like comprises an eccentric ring 26 with an oblique flange 27 the edge 40 of which is concentric with the crank-shaft axis. The ring 26 is located between and rotates with, the crank web 9 and the inner face of bearing 11. A seal is formed between the edge 40 of flange 27 and the outer bearing race 34 by means of a radially expanding sealing ring 29 located in annular groove 28 in the outer race 34. Lubricant passes through the bearing into the triangular annular pocket formed between ring 26 and flange 27. Through this ring at the farthest position from the crank-shaft axis is located hole 42 which connects the triangular pocket via tube 32 with the crank-pin bore 30 and thence through duct 31 to connecting-rod bearing 6. The sides of the bearings 11 and 12 remote from the crank webs 8 and 9 are sealed with stationary rings 14 and 15 in grooves 16 and 17 in the crank-case 13 engaging sealing rings 22 and 23 on the crank-shaft. In a modified arrangement the triangular annular pocket is divided into two separate symmetrical parts each with its own discharge hole which connects with parallel bores within the crank-pin and thus permits the supply of lubricant to two or more connecting-rod bearings on one crank-pin. |
