<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian protection airbag device which prevents a front edge of a lid from abutting on a windshield when an airbag is inflated while the airbag is stored in a case extending in the width direction of a vehicle body, the case is covered by the lid in a bow shape in plan view, and a rear edge of the lid is hinged to a hood or the like. <P>SOLUTION: When an inflator 9 is operated, the airbag 5 is inflated, and the lid 20 pressed by the inflating airbag 5 is started to turn backwardly around a hinge 21 and opened. Not only both ends of the longitudinal direction of a rear edge 20r of the lid 20 but also a center in the longitudinal direction are hinged to an edge of an opening 3a by the hinge 21, and the turning radius in a vicinity of the center of the longitudinal direction of a front edge 20f of the lid is also small.
