PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the contrast of a plasma display panel in a light room and luminance in a screen. SOLUTION: There are provided: lower and upper substrates arranged at a prescribed interval mutually to form a discharge space between the substrates; a plurality of barrier ribs that are provided between the lower and upper substrates, divide the discharge space, and form a discharge cell; a plurality of first and second discharge electrodes causing discharge inside the discharge cell; a phosphor layer that is formed on the internal wall of the discharge cell, and discharges visible light by discharge; and a color filter layer that is formed on the surface of the upper substrate, restrains the entry of extraneous light to the discharge cell, and increases the color purity of video light to be emitted. On the upper substrate, a multilayer film is formed where the multilayer film has operation for setting the visible light generated in the discharge cell to be in a central convergence shape for emitting outside.
