The method involves positioning the drill fitting (1) in a trench in the main water pipe, positioning an insertion arrangement on the top of the fitting to operate it, filling the trench and turning a cutting tool in the pipe wall, preferably by hand, to make a pipe joint between the main pipe and house connection. It involves indicating the drilling state in the visible region of the insertion arrangement when making the joint. An independent claim is also included for an insertion arrangement for making a domestic connection, especially for use in the inventive method.
