[Also in Group XXXII] A mine haulage vehicle has a pair of sections 12, 14, Figs. 1 and 4, pivotally connected at 16, a conveying means supported within the sections for movement substantially throughout the entire length of the vehicle, traction wheels 32 supporting the adjacent ends of the sections, and means, such as an hydraulic ram 3, to exert a pivoting force for increasing the load on the traction wheels. In the preferred embodiment, a ram at each side of the vehicle is connected by studs 2 and 4 to the sections 12 and 14. When fluid is admitted to the space 6 in the ram the sections 12 and 14 tend to pivot clockwise and anticlockwise respectively to increase the load on the traction wheels 32 and decrease that on the steered wheels 30. The rams are supplied by a pump through control and non-return valves, forming part of a circuit which also includes a pressure gauge and an accumulator. Fig. 5 shows an alternative arrangement in which a rod 22 operated by the ram exerts a pivoting action through a gear train 23 . . . 25 mounted on the section 14, the gear 25 being coaxial with the pivotal connection 16 between the body sections.</p> |
