An image forming apparatus, a method for controlling the same, a program for executing the method, and a storage medium storing the program are provided to solve a problem that energy saving for a new application is difficult because energy-saving control is performed with respect to previous applications. An image forming apparatus includes an energy-saving control condition providing module and an energy-saving control module(602). The energy-saving control condition providing module provides energy-saving conditions to each application of the image forming apparatus. The energy-saving control module(602) controls the energy-saving state of each functional module under the energy-saving condition. The application is related to the manifest in which energy-saving control conditions for at least one functional module are described.
