<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic surgical system. <P>SOLUTION: The surgical system includes various pneumatic control sub-systems integrally mounted on a common manifold. Various required control mechanisms such as valves are likewise integrally mounted on the common manifold. Air cylinders for actuating the valves are directly provided on the common manifold, and pressurized air is supplied to the air cylinders through the common manifold. Such a construction eliminates the need of an external air tube for supplying the pressurized air to the air cylinders.
